Contribute to and manage lightweight operating cadences — standups, status updates, trackers, documentation
Prepare materials for leadership reviews and ensure decisions are captured and actioned

4–7+ years of experience in operations, project management, or similar hands-on roles within a fast-moving organization
Demonstrated experience working across Strategy, Product, Engineering, CX, and Go-To-Market teams, with the ability to influence without direct authority
Background in consumer tech, SaaS, or sports tech
Track record of building structure from ambiguity — setting up workstreams, processes, and execution plans in new or undefined environments
Comfortable operating as an individual contributor initially, with the interest and capability to take on people leadership as the business grows
Data-oriented, with comfort working with metrics, reporting, and light analysis; experienced building structured datasets from unstructured sources
Clear, organized written and verbal communicator — able to synthesize complexity and keep multiple teams aligned
Experience in 0-1 startup or corporate innovation environments
Experience with Notion or similar knowledge-management tools for process documentation and cross-functional collaboration
Exposure to corporate or enterprise environments — particularly in navigating structured stakeholder expectations

Conduct AI alignment and safety research on under-resourced, high-impact projects in collaboration with leading researchers and organizations.
There are more good alignment ideas than there are people to run them. Top researchers at Anthropic, DeepMind, OpenAI, and the major alignment organizations all have promising directions they can’t get to, ideas that could be more impactful than what’s currently getting funded or what their organizations are set up to try. The window for alignment research is short, and we think the field’s real bottleneck is capacity, not ideas. We’ve built something to fix that.
AE Studio is a 160-person, fully bootstrapped ML consultancy. We’ve spent over a decade building and shipping AI systems for clients including Samsung, Berkshire Hathaway, Goodfire AI, and RAND Corporation. Without outside investors we are able to choose where the money goes, and we put it into alignment research through the AI Alignment Foundation, a nonprofit we founded to scale this work (also backed by other philanthropies). The research team is 25 people and growing.
Over years of client work, we got really good at one thing: taking someone with a vision (an external visionary) and no capacity to build it, putting a strong technical team around them, and shipping fast. Our alignment research is that same approach pointed at the field’s best ideas instead of products. The visionary doesn’t hire anyone, manage anyone, or babysit anyone. They plug in, have a conversation once a week, and our team runs the work.
We’re running a DARPA seedling on alignment and control, our policy team engages directly with the government on AI alignment, and our work has been featured many times in the Wall Street Journal. We collaborate with researchers at Anthropic, Princeton University, University College London, Redwood Research, and MATS. The work gets published at major ML conferences and workshops.
You will be part of the alignment research team, working on projects selected for their high upside potential and under-resourced status. Research that matters most in a world where AI systems are powerful enough to recursively self-improve with little human oversight.
Projects will evolve as we bring on new collaborators and shift focus to what’s most impactful. What stays constant is that you’re doing real alignment research with real autonomy, in directions most organizations aren’t set up to pursue.
BENEFITS Remote-first with flexible schedules. Health insurance, free lunches at the office, weekly knowledge-sharing talks, and an annual team retreat. Regular performance-based raises and a diversified employee equity program.
COMPENSATION
The salary range is $180k to $240k per year for US-based candidates. Not in the range? Apply anyway. We’re growing fast and may have more senior roles opening soon.
We’re working towards a flourishing future for all conscious beings. If that’s what you want to work on, we want to talk to you.

Virtuous is hiring an IT Systems & Automation Engineer to help build and scale the internal systems that power a distributed, cloud-first organization. This role combines Enterprise IT, automation engineering, AI enablement, and security operations to improve how the business operates, scales, and adopts AI-enabled workflows across the organization.
We believe IT should function as an engineering discipline focused on scalability, automation, security, and organizational enablement, not simply reactive support.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving systems, reducing operational friction, and helping teams move faster through thoughtful technology, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
Reporting to the Director of IT & Security, you’ll design and automate workflows across identity and access management, endpoint management, SaaS operations, onboarding/offboarding, and internal enablement systems. Success in this role is measured by scalable systems, reduced operational friction, strong security posture, and the organization’s ability to move quickly and securely.
Design and implement automation across onboarding, endpoint management, SaaS administration, and internal workflows.
Build integrations and orchestrations across platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Entra ID, ITSM, MDM, and asset management systems.
Leverage APIs, scripting, orchestration platforms, and AI-assisted tooling to reduce manual operational work and help drive AI-enabled productivity across the organization.
Continuously improve system reliability, automation coverage, and operational efficiency.
Administer endpoint management platforms across macOS and Windows environments.
Manage core enterprise SaaS platforms, identity systems, RBAC models, and secure access workflows.
Design scalable remote-first IT operations that support a highly distributed workforce.
Maintain standardized configurations, documentation, and lifecycle management practices.
Partner with Security leadership to maintain strong endpoint posture, vulnerability remediation, and secure-by-default configurations.
Support compliance initiatives across SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and related frameworks.
Maintain audit-ready inventories, access controls, and operational documentation.
Participate in incident response, remediation, and operational security efforts.
Partner with teams across Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to improve internal workflows and business operations.
Lead rollout and adoption of new systems, automations, and internal tooling.
Communicate clearly during incidents, migrations, and operational changes.
Partner with teams across the organization to identify, evaluate, and operationalize AI-enabled workflows and productivity improvements where appropriate.
Act as a force multiplier by improving how work gets done across the organization.
5+ years of experience in IT, Systems Administration, IT Operations, or similar roles within a cloud-first organization.
Strong generalist experience across endpoint management, SaaS operations, identity and access management, operational security, and distributed workforce enablement.
Demonstrated success designing and implementing automation that materially reduces manual operational work and improves organizational efficiency.
Hands-on experience managing and integrating platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Entra ID / SSO platforms, MDM solutions, ITSM tooling, and asset management systems.
Experience with workflow automation, orchestration, scripting, APIs, or integration tooling (e.g., N8N, PowerShell, Bash, Python, REST APIs, Zapier, Workato, Make, or similar platforms).
Experience leveraging AI-assisted tooling and workflows to improve automation, operational efficiency, internal enablement, documentation, or organizational productivity.
Familiarity with modern security and compliance tooling including EDR, vulnerability management, endpoint compliance, conditional access, identity governance, and operational controls supporting frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, or GDPR.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills across endpoints, SaaS systems, enterprise workflows, and cross-functional environments.
Most common IT workflows operate with minimal or no manual intervention.
New hire onboarding, provisioning, and access management are highly automated, reliable, and scalable for a distributed workforce.
Core enterprise systems remain secure, compliant, standardized, and operationally mature.
AI-assisted workflows materially improve operational efficiency, organizational productivity, and internal enablement.
The organization moves faster because internal systems and workflows reduce friction instead of creating it.
IT operational maturity improves over time through better automation, integrations, observability, and scalable systems design.
