You will combine deep handson technical work with leadershipâsetting direction, mentoring peers, and translating breakthrough ideas into reliable, productiongrade capabilities for NICEâs contact center solutions.
You will collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, product leaders, and subjectmatter experts to define strategy, validate research hypotheses, and lead the transition from experimental agentic systems to reliable, realworld deployments.
How will you make an impact?
Lead endâtoâend research initiatives across NLP, Vision, and multimodal modeling, with a strong focus on LLMâbased and agenticâAI systems.
Architect, prototype, and evaluate singleagent and multiagent systems, including planning, tool use, memory, and orchestration.
Establish and own best practices for safe, controllable, and scalable AI agents, including evaluation frameworks, guardrails, fallback strategies, and observability.
Act as a technical authority on LLM and agentic systems, guiding architectural decisions, evaluation strategies, and engineering tradeoffs.
Define rigorous offline and online evaluation strategies (KPIs, A/B testing, cost/performance tradeoffs) grounded in realworld constraints.
Deliver select research components at production quality and partner closely with productization teams to harden and deploy endtoend solutions.
Mentor researchers and data scientists, raising the bar for technical rigor, engineering quality, and applied research impact.
Communicate complex findings and risks clearly to crossfunctional stakeholders and leadership.
Stay at the forefront of AI research, contributing to the teamâs agenticâAI roadmap and longâterm research vision and help set teamwide standards and guidelines.

Strong Demonstrated experience building productionâgrade AI agents that perform multiâstep reasoning and toolâbased actions (e.g., tool invocation, planning, memory).
Mandatory: Experience with agent frameworks/orchestration layers or custom agent runtimes (e.g., LangGraph/LangChain, semantic routers, workflow engines, or inâhouse frameworks).
Strong practical expertise with LLMs (AWS Bedrock or similar platforms), including evaluation, prompt/program design, and safety patterns.

As a Manager within Recursionâs partnership-facing data science team, you will be at the forefront of reimagining drug discovery from first principles. You will lead a team of world-class computational biologists focused on identifying and advancing the next generation of oncology therapeutics. You will act as a âplayer-coach,â balancing direct technical contribution with the mentorship and strategic leadership of a high-performing team. Your mission is to integrate Recursionâs massive datasetsâphenomics, transcriptomics, and proteomicsâto nominate novel targets, validate disease biology, and define the precision oncology strategies that ensure our medicines reach the right patients.
In this role, you will:
The Team Youâll Join
Our group is a bold, agile, diverse collective of computational drug discovery scientists deeply focused on the singular goal of bringing new therapeutics into the clinic at an accelerated pace. We are a computational group that spans precision oncology, I&I (immunology and inflammation), and neuroscience and focuses on advancing novel, targeted therapies for these disease areas. We partner closely with our biologists and medicinal chemists to design and execute impactful and decisional data analysis for multiple programs. We are responsible for data strategy across the portfolio and supported by computational leadership in designing scalable and reproducible experiments that serve to advance multiple programs within the portfolio.
Our team collaborates extensively with computational biologists in other therapeutic areas (neurobiology, immunology, etc.) as well as data scientists and engineers from our core platform teams to provide a strong network of feedback and support.
PhD in a quantitative field (Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Cancer Biology, etc.) with 5+ years of experience in biotech or pharma industry OR MS in a relevant field and 7+ years of experience in biotech or pharma industry solving fundamental problems in oncology or drug discovery.
People Management Experience: Proven track record of managing and developing direct reports within a scientific or technical environment.
Oncology Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of cancer biology, including experience with biomarker discovery and patient population stratification.
Deep expertise in the analysis and data integration of two or more âomics data modalities (phenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics), including experience working with patient data
Computational Proficiency: Advanced skills in Python or R for the analysis of high-dimensional biological data (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, or high-content imaging).
Excellent Cross-Functional Communication: Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear and compelling narrative for internal and external-cross functional audiences.

Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is $151,800 to $230,000 You will also be eligible for an annual bonus and equity compensation, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
